Lockdown suggestions day 1 starts tomorrow
Welcome to my blog Trying to live members and those who wish to join the group. During lockdown i will be updating this blog every day and after that too. I think its a positive thing to get my thoughts down onto paper, and share them with my group and build them up in every way I know possible to do.
During lockdown yes we are restricted and have to stay home but there are advantages time to draw closer to family members, and those we live with, time to catch up on things that need doing round the house and other to do jobs that have been waiting around because we haven't had the time to attend to them.
House bound, for our protection remember that Whanau. in four weeks time hopefully we are free and we can get back to normality, but life may not be the same again who knows.
So some suggestions from me for the period of lockdown I have already posted a list of activities that could be done during this time, but mentally as well we need to look after ourselves.
Its so important to not panic too much, try and keep calm. Medication helps in that respect but also using mindfulness strategies DBT. Look into this whanau it will help you by you using mindfulness and taking time during the day to meditate and take time out.
One strategy I use is wise mind Breathe in wise, out Mind. Do this over and over and over until you feel calmer.
Count 1-10 10-20 even up to 100 if it gives you something to do and calms you down.
One thing i like to use from mindfulness dbt is taking a visual break/ holiday. and in your mind you take yourself to another location another time. You can do this so many times during the day, just lay back and export yourself somewhere else in your mind.
whether you go to a tropical island and sit on your deck chair with your drink in hand. in your bikini
and just take in the breeze, the heat, and how it feels just relaxed with your feet up sunglasses on. seeing the waves crashing onto the beach, beautiful sandy beach.
Sit beside a lake or a river and watch the ripples in the water.
its a pleasant place to be.
sit beside the most beautiful waterfall.
Imagine being in disneyland and having a beautiful time on the rides.
your dwelling on a positive and seeing something else to reality at the moment.
these are just a few suggestions of places you can go for your visual holiday break.
and this could come in handy now because we can't go out at all really. So takes on another full significance.
Another suggestion I have for you to imagine yourself letting go of worries and stress
whether you sit beside a lovely river and write notes on leaves and drop them in the river, and watch them float downstream. Get out how you feel on those leaves and let them drift. let those things leave your mind, those worries leave your mind and disappear.
Put worries into suitcases and put them on a shelf. or a conveyor belt but don't let them return to you.
Label your suitcases. Priority to not a priority at all. Open them another time for now just let them stay on the shelf. once its on the shelf or the conveyor belt imagine it disappearing.
These are just a few suggestions, there will be more coming your way.

I like to feel that I am giving to the group wealth of knowledge and experience as I have had quite a difficult life and had to be very strong to get through it. So i have built up so much resilience and strength and thats what I pass on in my group as well as being a support to those who need supporting, and just leaving something encouraging and positive. At times I post pics of my animals and a picture of myself, but mainly its all about encouraging the group to keep going in the good times but also when times aren't so positive.
I have had quite a journey and to give what I can to others and support them is what i need to do because the wealth of knowledge I have can benefit others.
